Can an individual own
a TASER? |

TASER can only be owned and used by federal government agencies involved in enforcement activities, local government, and licensed security guard companies under the Private Agencies Act 1971.
TASER is an Electronic Control Device (ECD). In Malaysia, besides the federal and local government law enforcement units, only the CLAS™ Family-Protector who has a TASER Carry and Use license can be equipped with a TASER. |

CLAS™ operators are licensed security Family-Protector companies under the Private Agencies Act 1971 and also must be licensed by Pro ICE Holdings Sdn Bhd to carry the CLAS™ name. |

What are the entry requirements for a CLAS™ Family-Protector? |
|
Any able Malaysian 18 years old and above can be nominated by the Client to be a CLAS™ Family-Protector candidate.
He/She will have to obtain a health report from a doctor and should be free from critical illnesses and disabilities.
Security vetting by the Kementerian Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (KKDN) is compulsory before employment can commence.
To confirm employment, a CLAS™ Family-Protector will need to go through a training course. A certificate will be awarded to candidates who have attended the training and passed the test.
He/She will be awarded with the respective certificates after going through the training and passing the assessment. Subsequently, he/she will be eligible to apply for a TASER Carry and Use license, subject to approval by Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM). |

What is the cost of this CLAS™ Family-Protector programme? |

What are the advantages of a TASER
over a firearm? |
|
•The TASER take down power is almost 100% although it is a less-lethal weapon.
• A correct hit (with both probes) anywhere on the body is effective with the TASER device.
• The use of a TASER is governed by the Arms Act 1960 (ACT 206) but it does not fall under the
Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 which may lead to death penalty.
• It is a powerful tool in situations where you do not need a firearm.
• TASER is unique in that, you “shoot to control and not to kill”. |

Do the CLAS™ Family-Protector or the Client own the weapons and equipment? |

All weapons and equipment has to be returned to the respective CLAS™ Operator at the termination of the Employment Agreement and/or Client Services Contract. |
